Email SupportFrequently asked questions
How do I add a city?
On the Home screen tap the plus icon (+) in the top right, then type a city name. Tap a result to add it. You can add multiple cities and swipe between them on the main screen.
Why does the app ask for my location?
Skylit can show weather for your current location automatically. Location access is optional — you can decline and add cities manually instead. We never store your location on a server. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I add a widget?
Long-press an empty area on your iPhone Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap the plus (+) in the top corner, search for "Skylit" and choose a widget size. Three home screen sizes and two lock screen accessory sizes are available.
How often does the widget update?
Widgets refresh approximately every 30 minutes when the device is unlocked and has a network connection. iOS controls the exact refresh schedule based on battery and usage patterns. To force a refresh, open the main app — the widget will update from the latest fetched data.
How do I change temperature units (°C / °F)?
Tap the settings gear in the top right of the Home screen, then Temperature, and choose Celsius or Fahrenheit. The Home screen and widgets update immediately.
Where does the weather data come from?
Weather data is provided by Open-Meteo, an open-source weather forecast API. Attribution is shown in the app under Settings → About → Weather Data.
The widget shows "No data" or is empty
This usually means the main app has not yet fetched weather. Open Skylit, add at least one city, and wait a few seconds for the forecast to load. The widget will pick up the data on its next refresh (typically within a minute).
Does Skylit work offline?
Yes, partially. The most recent forecast for each of your cities is cached for up to 30 minutes and remains available without network. After that, fresh data needs an internet connection.
Is Skylit free? Are there ads?
Skylit is completely free. No advertising. No subscription. No in-app purchases. No account required.
